Date posted - February 14, 2013

Dr Cody HoefertRock Rapids, Iowa — A Rock Rapids man has been elected a member of the Republican Party of Iowa Central Committee.

Dr. Cody Hoefert, a doctor of chiropractic from Rock Rapids says this all came about when Tim Moran, a member of the committee submitted his resignation.

Dr. Hoefert, the current Lyon County GOP Chairperson, says he thinks that the work that the county party has done in Lyon County has a lot to do with why he was asked to run for the committee position.

The other candidate for the party position was Hampton Mayor Shawn Dietz.  Dietz joked before the vote that he was happy to be there for QUOTE “Cody’s coronation”.

Hoefert received 49 votes, and Dietz received 7.
