Rock Valley Man Airlifted After Sunday ATV Accident Near Rock Valley

A Rock Valley man was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital after an ATV accident on Sunday.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5 minutes before 5 that afternoon, 43-year-old James Vanden Bos of Rock Valley was northbound on a 2005 Arctic Cat ATV, in a field about a half mile southeast of 320th Street and Fig Avenue. That’s about a mile southeast of Rock Valley. Vanden Bos encountered rough terrain, causing the ATV to roll.

Vanden Bos was transported to the Hegg Memorial Hospital by the Rock Valley Ambulance and was later airlifted to Avera&8208;McKennen Hospital in Sioux Falls for treatment of his injuries.

The ATV was not damaged.

The Rock Valley Police Department, Rock Valley Rescue Crew and the Rock Valley Fire Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
