Date posted - October 9, 2012
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 8 AM, 34-year-old Henry Wolfswinkel of Hull was driving a 1996 Case International 7210 farm tractor pulling a Penta 6020‐SD feed wagon northbound on Garfield Avenue, six miles northwest of Sioux Center. Thirty-two-year-old Lucio Mejia‐Rodriguez of Rock Valley was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban northbound behind Wolfswinkel.
As Wolfswinkel started to turn right onto 350th street, Mejia‐Rodriguez collided with the rear of the feed wagon. The Suburban then left the roadway and entered a farm field northeast of the intersection.
Mejia‐Rodriguez was transported to the Sioux Center Hospital by the Sioux Center Ambulance.
The Suburban, owned by Claudia Espinoza‐Anaya of Sioux City sustained about $9,000 in damages and is considered a total loss. The feed wagon sustained about $400 in damages.
Mejia‐Rodriguez was cited for following too closely and for failure to have a valid driver’s license.
