The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, or RAGBRAI kicks off July 20th in Rock Valley and ends 418 miles later in Guttenberg. As a contrast to last year’s ride, when riders stayed in some bigger towns and cities, this year’s ride will feature mostly small towns.
Along the way, riders will spend nights in Okoboji, Emmetsburg, Forest City, Mason City, Waverly, and Independence, before dipping their front tires in the Mississippi at Guttenberg. The ride has never spent a night in Rock Valley before, but riders did roll through once in 1985.
The 2014 ride is the 42nd ride, and it runs July 20th through the 26th. Riders will spend the night of Saturday, July 19th in Rock Valley.
