Rock Valley Woman Airlifted To Sioux Falls Hospital After Monday Accident

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:15 AM, 59-year-old Karen Hulstein of Rock Valley was driving a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer northbound on Fig Avenue, four miles southeast of Rock Valley.
The report says Hulstein lost control of the vehicle. It entered the west ditch, rolled and struck a cattle fence.
Hulstein was freed from the vehicle by Rock Valley Fire and Rescue, using their rescue equipment. She was transported to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley by the Rock Valley Ambulance, and was later transferred by helicopter to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
The Blazer sustained about $2,500 damage. The cattle fence sustained $500 damage.
The Rock Valley Fire Department, Rock Valley Rescue Crew and Rock Valley Ambulance Personnel assisted at the scene.
