Rushmore, MN Man Transported To Hospital After Accident Near Sibley

Osceola Sheriff Car 72-2Sibley, Iowa — A Rushmore, Minnesota man was taken to the hospital after an accident near Sibley on Wednesday.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, who has just released the report of the accident, reports that about 8:10 AM on Wednesday (4/17), 48-year-old Paul Engelkes of Rushmore, MN, was driving a 1998 Chevy southbound on Nettle Ave, about four miles southwest of Sibley. Forty-one-year-old Christina Matthieson of Ocheyedan, was westbound on 200th Street in a 2002 Ford.

According to the Sheriff’s report, Matthieson failed to stop at the stop sign and hit the Engelkes vehicle broadside.

Engelkes had to be extricated from his vehicle by the Sibley Fire & Rescue and was transported to the Osceola Community Hospital by the Osceola County Ambulance Service.

Matthieson was ticketed for failure to obey stop sign.

Her vehicle sustained $4000 damages. Engelkes’ vehicle sustained $2000 damages.
