School Board Has Varied Agenda For Monday Meeting

Sheldon-Schools-logoSheldon, Iowa — The Board of Education of the Sheldon Community School District will have a variety of items facing them when they meet for their regular monthly meeting Monday evening.

The Board will hear from Eric Gilbertson, a representative from King, Reinsch, Prosser who will provide them with a verbal presentation of the independent audit conducted on the Sheldon Community School District last fall.

In other action, Superintendent Robin Spears will update the Board on the effect of Tax Increment Financing in the City on the School District.

The Board is also set to hold the Second Reading of the proposed High School Registration Handbook.  They’ll receive one employee resignation, and consider an employment contract for a Middle School Wrestling Coach.

Also on the agenda is the consideration of funding for new playground equipment for East Elementary School.

The Board will hear from Superintendent Spears on the replacement of a vehicle for the Building and Grounds Department.  You might remember that last month the Board gave Spears their blessing to look into a replacement for the more than 20-year old pickup truck currently in use.  He’ll report his findings to the Board Monday evening.

The final agenda item is a closed session to discuss strategy in the District’s contract negotiations with the Sheldon Education Association, the union representing the District’s teachers.

Monday night’s Sheldon School Board Meeting is set to begin at 5:00 pm in the high school library.
