The 7th Annual SIOUXperman Triathlon will take place in Sioux Center, this Saturday (5/4). The event will consist of an indoor 300-yard Swim, 25k Bike & 5k Run. The swim and transition area will be in the new All Seasons Center.
We talked with one of the coordinators of the event, Benji Van Donge, who tells us how the event got started seven years ago.
He says it basically was started to promote health and wellness in the community. He tells us about the bike ride.
He says the 5K run uses the rec trails in Sioux Center.
Van Donge says they always shoot for about 300 participants, plus there is a team component as well.
He says there’s a reason they decided to do the swim in an indoor pool.
Van Donge says this is the second year that they will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the Triathlon to two local charities. He says the first one is called “All Kids Can”.
He tells us about the other charity.
Registration for Saturday’s Siouxperman Triathlon is open until midnight Wednesday evening, May 1.
