We talked with Sheldon Regional Airport Commission Chairman Skip Tanner, who tells us about the grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.
He says the total project funds amount to $516,820, or just over half a million.
Tanner says the project will not affect the Celebration Days Flight Breakfast, as it will start after Labor Day.
He tells us how it came about.
Tanner says the fact that the FAA gave the Sheldon Regional Airport the extra funds speaks to the fact that the FAA realizes that the airport is an important airport in the area.
He says the project is preemptive maintenance for the runway.
