Sheldon Celebration Days Royalty And Top Dog Winners Announced

Date posted - August 14, 2012

Sheldon, Iowa — More than 6,000 hot dogs were served by Sheldon merchants Monday night during the Annual Hot Dog Day festivities.

In addition to just serving hot dogs, member businesses of the Sheldon Chamber & Development Corporation compete for a “Top Dog” traveling trophy, awarded by judges who sample and evaluate the toppings and other fare offered.  SCDC Chamber Executive Shanelle Matus has announced the winner of the “Top Dog” Contest.

In addition to hot dogs and toppings, Prairie Queen Restaurant & Bakery also had live music for folks to enjoy while they dined.

Following Hot Dog Day, the Sheldon Celebration Days Pageant was held in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.  Matus tells us who was crowned at that pageant.

Matus said that, unlike some previous years, this year there was a bumper crop of contestants seeking the title of Miss Sheldon, Little Miss Sheldon and Master Sheldon.

Matus says the Celebration Days royalty will reign over the Celebration Days festivities Labor Day weekend in Sheldon, as well as taking part in various parades and other functions throughout the area, as their schedules permit, over the next year.
