Megan HeneveldSheldon, Iowa — A Lions Club Peace Poster created by a middle school student in Sheldon has won not only at the district level, but also at the state level.

The poster created by 13-year-old Meagan Hengeveld, a student at Sheldon Christian School, and daughter of Joel & Julie Hengeveld was the honored poster. The posters were created this past fall, and have progressed through a number of levels. The 9NW district level competition was held on December 15th.

Hengeveld’s poster won that competition and also won at the state level recently. Lion District Governor Ken Mark Essing of Manson, Iowa says that the poster was of a very high quality in all aspects. He congratulated her for the good work in what he called her, “inspiring poster”. The local Sheldon Lions Club extended its congratulations also. They say they are proud to have Hengeveld represent Sheldon.Megan Hengeveld Poster

During this next year, Hengeveld’s poster will make the tour of the various Lions conferences and it will be featured at the Lions State Convention in June in Cedar Rapids, where she will again be honored.

The international judging results will be announced around February 1st. We at KIWA join with the Lions members in wishing Hengeveld good luck in that competition.
