How does one walk along 16th St or 2nd Ave. or Western Ave or Park St. NO SIDE WALKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????? WHY worry about TRAILs that are not maintained in winter months. People don’t walk on sidewalks in this town because they are uneven, have obstructions and are too narrow in places. FIX the side walks and put them in where they are missing!

As one who lives on the eastside of Country Club Road I suggested to city officials several years back that since we were obligated by the city council to put sidewalks in anyway that those sidewalks be 6 to 8 foot in width and enlist them as part of the trail system. I’m not saying that all my neighbors would have agreed but maybe if the city offered to pay for all or even half the project the problem the Trails committee has today MIGHT not be an issue.
Now the Trails committee suggests that a 10′ trail be put on the westside of Country Club Road from 18 to East 9th. That would mean that those wanting to walk or bike the trail to Taco Johns or McDonalds would have to cross Country Club Road about 25 yards from where 18 empties onto Country Club. This would make for a dangerous situation for pedestrians crossing as cars and trucks coming off 18 going south accelerate immediately. A crossing there would have unwelcomed consequences.

The City and Trails committee will not have very happy people on Country Club Road if they decide to put in a 8-10 foot trail on the East or West side of the road especially the new houses that built along that road and had to put there own sidewalk in, and now they are talking on replacing those sidewalks. Talk about a waste of money!!!!!! Also why does it matter putting bigger sidewalks in, people biking or running dont use the side walks or trails anyways if there is a road next to it!
