Sheldon City Manager Leaving After 16-Months On The Job

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon will be searching for a new City Manager following the resignation of current City Manager Sean Hutchison.

During Wednesday afternoon’s special City Council meeting, Mayor Katricia Meendering revealed that Hutchison had met with her around mid-day Wednesday, and delivered his letter of resignation. Hutchison’s last day as Sheldon City Manager will be Thursday, June 28th. Hutchison’s resignation was accepted by a unanimous vote of thee Council, without discussion.

Following Wednesday’s special meeting, Hutchison revealed to KIWA that he has accepted a similar position in Jamaica Beach, Texas, which is located on Galveston Island, on the Gulf of Mexico.

Hutchison is leaving the Sheldon position after just 16-months on the job, having gone to work here on December 1, 2016.

Hutchison came to Sheldon from Crockett, Texas, where he had served as City Administrator and Director of Public Works since 2014.  Prior to that position, Hutchison served as Village Administrator and Director of Public Works for the Village of Combine Locks, Wisconsin.

Hutchison holds the designation of Certified Public Manager through the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Kennedy-Western University in Cheyenne, Wyoming along with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science and Advanced Supervisory Management from Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
