Sheldon Community Cleanup Day POSTPONED TO WEDNESDAY
Date posted - May 1, 2013
Due to the inclement weather & the resulting saturated ground, Community Clean-Up Day, originally scheduled for Friday, May 3 from 1-3 PM, will be postponed and now held on Wednesday, May 8 from 1-3PM. NCC’s Campus Clean-Up that was to have been held on Friday, May 3 will also be postponed.
The Sheldon Marketing Committee has put together the 8th Annual Sheldon Community Cleanup Day. The main thrust of the event will be WEDNESDAY afternoon (5/8) from 1 to 3 PM.
Marketing Committee Chairperson Heidi Brown says they’re hoping for good weather.
She says they’ve moved the event to Friday afternoons (normally), and that seems to be working great.
Brown says this year with the April ice storm, there’s even more work to do.
She says they encourage volunteers to come to either City Park or Hills Park.
Brown says gloves are strongly encouraged due to the possibility of sharp objects and sharp sticks and branches. She says if you want to bring your own, that’s fine. They’re looking for people to bring rakes too.
She says if you can’t come out on Friday afternoon, there are other options too.
Brown says this year Northwest Iowa Community College will be holding a Campus Clean Up Day on the same day with faculty and students to clean up out at the college.
She says this is our chance to put Sheldon’s best foot forward for residents and visitors alike, especially with all the festivities coming up this summer, including graduations, Rise Fest on Father’s Day weekend, the Village Independence Day Festival, and Celebration Days in September. She says we all like to use the parks, so we should all help to clean them up.
Again the cleanup day will be Wednesday, May 8th from 1 to 3.
