Sheldon Emergency Crews Handle Two Emergencies Wednesday Morning

Law Enforcement Lightbar redSheldon, Iowa — Sheldon emergency responders were called to two emergencies on Wednesday morning, February 19th.

The first call was shortly after 8:15 AM, and was to an accident at Second Avenue South and the Highway 60 on ramp.

There was a one-vehicle accident and one person was transported, according to on-scene reports. We’ll have the full report when it becomes available from the Sheldon Police.

The second emergency was a one-vehicle car fire about three and a half miles east of Sheldon on Highway 18 just before 9:30 Wednesday morning.

When Sheldon Emergency Services arrived on scene they found a van totally engulfed. The occupants of the vehicle able to get out and were okay, according to on-scene reports.

The Sheldon EMA and Sheldon Police closed Highway 18 for about 30 minutes as Sheldon firefighters extinguished the flames.

At the scene were the Sheldon Fire Company, Sheldon Police and EMA and the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.
