The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 6:50 PM on Saturday evening, July 30, 2016, they received a 911 call of a report of a 4-wheeler accident at the farm located at 3066 McKinley Avenue.

The reporting party advised that two people were injured. The Sheldon Fire and Rescue units, Sheldon Ambulance, and officers with the Iowa State Patrol and the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office were all dispatched to the scene.

When they got there, emergency personal were directed to an area surrounding a pond on the back side of the property. Witnesses at the scene say they saw two people riding together on a 4-wheeler on a gravel road surrounding the pond. They were reportedly travelling at a fairly high rate of speed and entered a curve in the road when the driver of the 4-wheeler, 26-year-old Garrett Crowl of Ashton, lost control on the gravel and slid sideways. It appeared the 4-wheeler then rolled sideways and struck a tree, according to witnesses.

Crowl and a passenger on the ATV, 25-year-old Shaleah Donavon of Sheldon, each sustained serious injuries and both were transported by Sheldon Ambulance to Sanford Medical Center in Sheldon, according to the Sheriff’s Office.Sanford Air Med 9
