Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon FFA’s biggest fund-raiser of the year is just about ready. FFA Advisor Gene Bomgaars tells KIWA the sweet corn is nearly ready to pick.
Bomgaars says they planted a good sized plot of the golden ears this year, and that it’s looking good.
He says the Sheldon FFA took steps to ensure a good sweet corn crop despite the hot, dry summer.
Bomgaars tells KIWA the sweet corn should be appearing at the Sheldon Hy-Vee and Fareway stores this Monday morning.
If you’re looking for a bulk-purchase quantity for canning or freezing, he says they can hook you up with a discounted price.
Bomgaars says his FFA students do a great job with the sweet corn each year, and get an educational benefit from the experience.
Sheldon FFA sweet corn will be available at both Hy-Vee and Fareway in Sheldon, as long as the supplies last.
