Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Fire Company was called to a structure fire late Sunday morning (December 10th) at 3152 Monroe Avenue, which is located just north of Sheldon on Washington Avenue.
Sheldon Assistant Fire Chief Randy Harms says the structure was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived. He says the Sanborn Fire Department was called for assistance.
Harms says about 25-thousand gallons of water and 20 gallons of foam were used to battle the blaze.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, according to Harms, but he says it appears to have been electrical in nature.
Harms says that, due to the amount of damage to the structure, the State Fire Marshal was notified.
The Sheldon Police Department, Sheldon EMA, O’Brien County EMA, Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, Sanborn Fire Department, and O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office assisted Sheldon firefighters at the scene.
Firefighters were on the scene for about 3-1/2 hours.

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Fire Company responded to the call of a structure fire on Sunday morning.
On-scene reports indicate the fire is north on Washington Avenue. The address to which emergency responders were paged was 3152 Monroe Avenue. That’s a mile north of the Washington Avenue Casey’s in Sheldon. The page went out about 11:35 a.m.
The barn-type structure behind the house was fully engulfed in flame, say the reports.
Sheldon Fire, Ambulance, Emergency Management and law enforcement and the Sanborn Fire Department all responded to the scene.
