Sheldon Infrastructure Details and Assessment Public Hearing Wednesday
Date posted - April 16, 2013
Sheldon residents will be able to get details of the proposed downtown infrastructure project this Wednesday April 17th. From four to 4:30 p.m. the project engineer will explain the plans at a Public Information meeting. This will be held in rooms A & B in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center. At 4:30 the Sheldon City Council will meet in council chambers. The first of several public hearings will be held to hear comments on the proposed assessments that will be levied on downtown property owners to help finance the project. After the public hearing the council will need to consider a resolution of necessity regarding the assessment schedule.
The next item on the agenda will be another public hearing. This is in regard to a $2.8 million dollar General Obligation Capital Loan Note to finance the infrastructure for the new Sheldon Crossing housing development. This will be followed by the setting of a date and time for a public hearing on a $2.5 million dollar General Obligation Capital Loan Note which will be used to finance the downtown infrastructure project. The next step will be a resolution to approve combining these two loans into one. After this, the council will hold another public hearing. This is on the vacating of some existing easements in the Trilogy Village development area. This will be followed by a public hearing on the final plat and re-plat of that area. The next public hearing will be to consider the lot prices in Trinity Village and to authorize the sale of lots in that development. There are 16 lots with suggested prices ranging from $20,930 to $43,590
In other business, the council will consider an amendment to the cemetery ordinance. If this amendment is approved it would allow upright markers in an area where only flush markers are now allowed. This change has been recommended by the cemetery Board because several families have requested upright markers in this area. It was also noted in the Cemetery Board minutes that there are 250 to 300 unsold lots in this section. If upright markers are allowed it could provide additional grave sites until the city is ready to open up another part of the cemetery.
The Council will also act on the sale of a lot in the Schemper Addition, set the date and time for a public hearing on the final plat of the Sheldon Crossing Development and discuss the possible restriction of water usage in the City.
Wednesday’s City Council meeting will begin at 4:30 in Council chambers. The four o’clock informational meeting will be held in Rooms A and B. Both are in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
