Forty-three-year-old Leroy William Raffaelli Jr. was arrested this past Sunday, February 3rd, at his motel room at the Sheldon Motel.

Officers had obtained an arrest warrant for Raffaelli, for the crime of Credit Card Fraud. Officers served the arrest warrant at Raffaelli’s room at the Sheldon Motel. Officers then executed a search warrant at that room to search for some of the stolen items from a burglary and recovered a number of items of possible evidence.

Officers later obtained a second search warrant for his room upon finding the presence of a controlled substance there.

The burglary in question happened during the overnight hours of January 25th and the early morning hours of January 26th at a residence on Sixth Avenue in Sheldon.

Raffaelli was charged with Theft in the 1st Degree, a class C felony, and Burglary in the Third Degree, a class D felony. He was transported to the County Jail in Primghar. An investigation is ongoing by the Sheldon Police Department. Additional charges will be filed on Raffaelli in Sioux County for Possession of a Controlled Substance: Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Ongoing Criminal Conduct, and multiple counts of Credit Card Fraud.

Raffaelli also faces several criminal charges by the Le Mars Police Department for two counts of Credit Card Fraud, Operating a Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent, and Possession of Stolen Property.

Assisting the Sheldon Police Department were officers from the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office and the Le Mars Police Department.

The public is reminded that a criminal charge is merely an accusation and that all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
