Sheldon Nurse To Be Given Statewide Honor

UPDATE: Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon nurse is going to receive an honor next month at the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) annual meeting.

Registered nurse Jessica Justi is one of eleven outstanding Iowa hospital employees who will be honored at the 2017 IHA Annual Meeting in October as “Iowa Hospital Heroes.”

We had a chance to talk to Justi and she tells us how she feels about receiving the honor.

Sanford officials say that Justi, a nursing inpatient manager, was instrumental in Sanford Sheldon being re-verified as a Community Level IV Trauma Care Facility. Justi tells us what that entailed.

She says that her role included a lot of gathering of data and documents and making sure things were up-to-date, and verifying the Sanford Sheldon emergency department is providing the quality care that they need to.

Justi will receive the Iowa Hospital Heroes award in a ceremony at the Iowa Hospital Association annual meeting on Wednesday, October 11th, in Des Moines.

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon nurse is going to receive an honor next month at the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) annual meeting.

Registered nurse Jessica Justi is one of eleven outstanding Iowa hospital employees who will be honored at the 2017 IHA Annual Meeting in October as “Iowa Hospital Heroes.” The Iowa Hospital Heroes Awards program was created to recognize hospital employees who have performed a heroic act or tirelessly given their time, talent or expertise to better their hospital, patients or community, with measurable results.

Sanford officials say that Justi, a nursing inpatient manager, was instrumental in Sanford Sheldon being re-verified as a Community Level IV Trauma Care Facility.

Sanford Sheldon Senior Director Rick Nordahl says that Justi’s experience and empathy toward others, her unparalleled leadership and her calm demeanor makes her the best choice to lead Sanford Sheldon’s emergency department. He says that when it comes to devotion, professionalism, organization, and skill, “[Justi] certainly comes to mind.”

Justi says that she loves being a nurse because there is no other job where you are a part of someone’s highest highs and lowest lows all while impacting their life.
