Sheldon Police Investigate Report Of Several Items Stolen From Sheldon Home; Cover Accidents

Sheldon PD car police spdSheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Police officers are investigating the theft of several items from a home on North Washington Avenue.

The resident reports that sometime on Monday, January 14th, someone stole a cell phone, and other items including cigarette lighters and a flashlight valued at a combined total of $280 from the home.

A Sheldon teen’s SUV and a Sheldon resident’s parked car were damaged in an accident on Saturday (1/19) in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 12:15 AM, 17-year-old Jose Barron of Sheldon had been parked west of a driveway at a home on Seventh Street, and was backing southbond, in 1995 Jeep. A 2008 Saturn owned by Manat Phongken of Sheldon was parked on the driveway, east of the Jeep.

As Barron was backing out, he struck the Saturn.

The Jeep sustained $400 damage, and the Saturn sustained $1500 damage.

No charges were filed.

A Tahoe was damaged in a hit-and-run accident reported on Saturday (1/19).

The Tahoe was owned by Dawn Wynia, and sustained $1500 damage when it was struck by an unknown vehicle, believed to be an SUV in the parking lot of Fareway on Sheldon’s east side.

Wynia says a woman driving a white Suburban was backing up and that as she did, she caught the rear passenger side of the Tahoe with the front driver’s side of the Suburban, and then left the scene.

A Sheldon teen’s car and a Sheldon woman’s SUV were damaged in an accident on Monday in Sheldon.

The Sheldon police report that about 4:20 PM, 18-year-old Teighlor Lonning of Sheldon was backing westbound in the Hy-Vee parking lot, in a 2001 Volkswagon Beetle. Sixty-six-year-old Shirly Peters of Sheldon was backing eastbound from a spot almost directly behind Lonning in a 2007 Chevy SUV.

Lonning’s Beetle received $900 damage. Peters’ Chevy received $500 damage.

No charges were filed.

A car was damaged in a hit-and-run accident on Monday (1/21).

The Sheldon Police say that they received the report of the accident a few minutes after 5 PM. A 1999 Chrysler, owned by Benesa Heddle was legally-parked in the Sanford Sheldon Clinic lot. They report that a burnt orange Dodge pickup driven by a woman with long hair backed into Heddle’s car and fled the scene. No license plate information was available.
