Sheldon Police Investigate Two Non-Injury Accidents

off lightbarSheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Police Department handled a couple of accidents recently.

An SUV owned by a Sheldon business was damaged in a hit-and-run accident, late on Friday, January 3, or early on Saturday, January 4 in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that a 2004 Ford SUV owned by RV Central of Sheldon was parked in the Eagles Club lot.

When the driver came to pick up the SUV, he noticed damage to the left front corner of the SUV.

RV Central’s Ford received $2500 damage.

There were no injuries reported.

A Sheldon woman’s Suburban and a Melvin woman’s car were damaged in an accident on Saturday, January 4 in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 12:15 PM, 61-year-old Kathleen Brock of Sheldon was eastbound on Seventh Street, in a 2012 Chevy Suburban. Thirty-three-year-old Mindi Van Houten of Melvin was northbound on Fifth Avenue in a 2004 Pontiac.

The cars entered the uncontrolled intersection, and Van Houten struck the right rear of the Brock Suburban.

Brock’s Chevy Suburban received $3000 damage. Van Houten’s Pontiac received $7000 damage.

There were no injuries reported.

The report says Brock was charged with failure to yield to vehicle on the right.
