A Hull man’s minivan and an Ashton teen’s car were damaged in an accident on Saturday (10/6) in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 1:20 PM, 42-year-old Lyle Van Ravenswaay of Hull was westbound on Highway 18 in a 2008 Dodge Caravan. Eighteen-year-old Ashley Roush of Ashton was eastbound on 18 in a 1993 Chevy.

Roush was in the inside lane and was going to make a left turn onto North Washington Avenue. There was a truck in the oncoming inside lane, so Roush was not able to see if there was any traffic in the oncoming outside lane. She made the turn, but didn’t see Van Ravenswaay coming because of the truck. Van Ravenswaay’s minivan struck the Roush car in it’s passenger side rear.

Van Ravenswaay’s Dodge received $10,000 damage. Roush’s Chevy was totaled, with $2500 damage.

There were no injuries reported.
