Sheldon Police Take Burglary Report, Cite One, Cover Hit-And-Run Accident In Separate Incidents

The police cited 26-year-old Carleton Monroe of Sheldon on Saturday (3/9) on charges of Dog at Large and Dog Causing Annoyance. He was cited and released.

They also took a report of a burglary on North Fifth Avenue in Sheldon. Someone reported the theft of a Toshiba laptop and assorted jewelry, valued at a combined total of $6055. The man who called in the report says it happened sometime on Thursday, March 7th. The Police are investigating.

A Sheldon woman’s car was damaged in a hit-and-run accident on Sunday (3/10) in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 3:20 PM, 94-year-old Irene Voss of Sheldon was eastbound on Ninth Street in a 2000 Mercury. An unknown vehicle was southbound on Sixth Avenue.

Voss had stopped at the stop sign at Sixth Avenue. The unknown vehicle was stopped at the stop sign for Ninth Street. The vehicle proceeded into the intersection to go straight. Voss accelerated from her stopped position, also traveling straight. She collided into the right side of the unknown vehicle. The unknown driver did not stop and fled the scene.

A witness describes the vehicle as a silver or grey SUV driven by a Hispanic man.

Voss’s Mercury received $1750 damage.

There were no injuries reported.

No charges were filed.
