UPDATE: Sheldon Rec Trails Committee Adds Sculpture

Sheldon, Iowa — As you drive down Country Club Road in Sheldon, or use the Recreational Trail in that portion of the city, you’ll notice the addition of a small area containing a sculpture in the likeness of a bicycle rider, along with a park bench at the intersection of Country Club Road and Prairie Trails Road, adjacent to the Rec Trail.

The Sheldon Recreational Trails Committee erected the sculpture and bench, and long-time Rec Trails Committee member Pete Hamill tells us where the idea originated.

Hamill says the land upon which the sculpture and bench are placed was donated by the adjacent property owner.

He says the little park area makes a nice place to pause and rest while using the trails system.

Hamill says the cost of the project came strictly from funds that were raised by the Rec Trails Committee.

The sculpture and bench were erected earlier this week.

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Recreational Trails Committee has erected a sculpture of a bicycle rider, along with a bench, at the corner of Country Club Road and Prairie Trails Road, adjacent to the Recreational Trail, in eastern Sheldon. The bench and sculpture are designed to provide a cozy place for users of the trail to sit and rest for a bit, before continuing on their trail excursion.
