Sheldon School Board Meets January 16th
Date posted - January 15, 2013
The Sheldon Community Schools Board of Education will meet in both special session and regular session Wednesday evening. The special session is scheduled for 5:30 pm, and is for the expressed purpose of receiving the Sheldon Education Association’s Initial Collective Bargaining Proposal. The Sheldon Education Association is the name of the District’s teacher’s union.
At 6:00 pm Wednesday, the Board will open their Regular Monthly Meeting for January. On the agenda for the meeting will be a presentation from students of the high school on the continuation of Rachel’s Challenge. They’ll discuss what projects they have in mind, and what their goal is for the future.
In other business, the Board will review policies, have the second reading of the 2013-14 Registration Booklet, address a pair of open enrollment applications, adopt the 2013-14 School Calendar, consider the purchase of a school bus or buses, and set a date for the February Board Meeting. Normally the Board meets the second Wednesday of each month, however in February that date conflicts with the Iowa Superintendent’s Finance and Leadership Consortium meeting, which Superintendent Robin Spears will be attending.
The Board will end the evening with a closed session to conduct a strategy meeting concerning negotiations on the new collective bargaining agreement.
Wednesday evening’s Special Session begins at 5:30, with the Regular Monthly Meeting scheduled for 6:00. Both will be held in the Sheldon Community High School Library.
