Sheldon School Board Meets This Afternoon

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Community Schools Board of Education will meet in regular session this afternoon at 5:00 in the high school library.

Among the items on their agenda will be a pair of resignations, along with four Open Enrollment applications, as well as a trio of employment contracts.

Superintendent Cory Myer is scheduled to update the Board on the District’s financial health, and give them updates on District staffing, and education-related bills being discussed by the Iowa Legislature. Myer is also scheduled to update the school board on the talks between the District and Children’s World regarding the District plan to partner with Children’s World for preschool instruction.

The Sheldon Education Association, the union representing the teachers in the Sheldon Community School District, is scheduled to present their Initial Collective Bargaining Proposal to the Board for the 2019-2020 school year. The Board will enter into Exempt Closed Session at the end of the regular meeting agenda for the purpose of discussing the union proposal, and setting a negotiating strategy.
