Sheldon, IA — The Board of Education of the Sheldon Community School District will hold a public hearing on their 2013-2014 budget when they meet in regular session Wednesday evening (April 10). The hearing is scheduled for 6:30 Wednesday evening, and will give District taxpayers an opportunity to speak for or against the proposed budget.
In other action, the Board is set to approve the negotiated contract for the next school year with the Sheldon Education Association, the union representing the District’s teachers. The contract calls for increases in base salary, an increase in the District’s contribution to employee health insurance premiums, and changes in the paid leave schedule.
They’ll also approve contracts for the high school boys basketball head coach and assistant coach, School Business Official/Board Secretary, Industrial Arts Teacher, and a 4th grade elementary teacher position. They’ll deal with a trio of open enrollment applications, set compensation for summer driver’s education teachers, and set student fees for driver’s ed, set substitute teacher pay for next year, and adopt a proclamation for “Teacher Appreciation Week”, among other items of business.
The Board will conclude their night in a closed session for the purpose of discussing employee conditions of employees not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
Wednesday evening’s meeting begins at 6:00 pm, with the Budget Hearing scheduled for 6:30 pm, in the Sheldon High School Library.
