Sheldon School Board To Recognize Retiring Teachers

Sheldon-Schools-logoSheldon, Iowa — When the Board of Education of the Sheldon Community School District meets in regular session Wednesday evening one of the items on their agenda is the recognition of several staff members who will be retiring at the end of the 2015-16 school year.  A total of seven staff are retiring, and five of those are expected to be in attendance at Wednesday’s meeting.

In other action, the Board will receive an update from the Technology Committee, and will consider the purchase of 290 new laptop computers, and 65 new desktop computers.  They’ll also consider new security cameras for each of the District’s buildings.

The Board is also set to take up a pair of Open Enrollment Applications for the 2016-17 school year, as well as approve a total of seven employee contracts for teaching and coaching positions.  The Board is also expected to designate an IASB Legislative Action Network and Delegate Assembly Representative, and discuss IASB legislative priorities.  Free and reduced priced meals are also expected to be authorized for the 2016-17 school year, as well as the review and acceptance of bread and milk contracts for the school meals program for next year.

The Sheldon School Board is also scheduled to take a look at the Athletic Sharing Agreement with St. Patrick’s School for next year, and set athletic ticket prices for the upcoming school year.

Wednesday’s meeting will begin at 6:00 pm in the library at the Sheldon Middle School.  Please note the change of location from the normal meeting place.
