Sheldon Schools Make Computer, Security Camera Purchases

Sheldon-Schools-logoSheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Community School District Board of Education approved the purchase of computer equipment and security equipment at their regular monthly meeting Wednesday evening.

The District received bids for computer equipment from two vendors, R&D Industries, and Access.  The R&D Industries bid of $168,498 was more than $40-thousand less than the bid from Access, so the Board voted to accept the R&D bid.  The bid was for 80 staff laptops, 210 student laptops, 65 desktop PCs, 6 computer carts, and extended warranties on the 210 student laptop computers.

The School Board also voted to purchase security cameras, and video door systems for each of the District’s buildings.  Bids were submitted by Midwest Alarm and Electric Innovations.  The bid the Board accepted was from Midwest Alarm, in the amount of $189,235, which was more than $45-thousand BELOW the bid submitted by Electric Innovations.

In other action, the Board set Athletic Ticket costs for the 2016-17 school year.  The Board voted to keep the cost of the Student Activity Ticket at $30.  The Adult Activity Ticket will remain at $40, and the student & adult admission fee per event is $5.
