Sheldon Woman Arrested On Drug Charges During Traffic Stop West Of Sheldon

Boyden, Iowa — A Sheldon woman was arrested early on Friday, August 8 on drug charges, about halfway between Boyden and Sheldon.Sioux Sheriff Car 84-

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 12 minutes after midnight, one of their deputies stopped 22-year-old Raychel Hughes of Sheldon at the intersection of Highway 18 and Lily Avenue.

Upon further investigation, the deputy discovered Hughes was in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and the deputy suspected that she was under the influence of a drug.

Hughes was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (drugged) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The sheriff’s office K‐9 unit and the sheriff’s office Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) assisted with the investigation.
