Sheldon Woman, Boyden Teen Transported To Hospital After Sunday Night Accident Near Boyden

Boyden Ax 3-12-13Boyden, Iowa — A Sheldon woman and a Boyden teen were taken to the hospital after an accident on Sunday night near Boyden.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 10:00 PM, 22-year-old Kaitlyn Ruden of Sheldon was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer eastbound on Highway 18, four miles east of Boyden. Nineteen-year-old Breanne Van Roekel of Boyden was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Impala westbound on Highway 18.

Ruden lost control of her vehicle, which struck Van Roekel’s vehicle.

Ruden and Van Roekel were transported to the Sheldon Hospital by the Boyden Ambulance and Sheldon Ambulance.

The Trailblazer sustained approximately $10,000 in damages. The Impala sustained approximately $8,500 in damages.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Sheldon Police Department, Sheldon Fire Company, Sheldon Ambulance, Boyden Fire Department and Boyden Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation.
