Sheldon Woman Faces Several Medical Issues; Community Asked To Help
Date posted - February 4, 2014
According to her friend Nicole (Matt) Van Beek, Stacie Van Beek Stofferan has been in the hospital in Minneapolis for the the last four weeks with health issues and surgeries.
She says Stofferan has done in-home daycare in Sheldon for fifteen years. On January 13th of this year, Van Beek says Stofferan went to Minneapolis for a same-day surgery on her pancreas. That was four weeks ago. Since then Stofferan has had surgery on her liver, endured extreme pain, fluid on her lungs, a feeding tube, fluid around her organs from inflammation, nausea and vomiting.
Van Beek says Stofferan’s pain has been hard to get under control as she has an allergic reaction to certain pain meds and narcotics.
Van Beek says Stofferan returned home Friday, January 24th, only to be hit with thrush, fluid in her lung again, and dehydration; plus her gastrointestinal system was “out of whack”.
Van Beek says the latest was a blockage in Stofferan’s colon and small bowel which resulted in her being flown back to Minneapolis on Tuesday, January 28.
She says that Stofferan remains in Minneapolis for an undetermined amount of time while her doctors figure out how to manage and take care of her GI system.
Also, Brian; Stofferan’s husband who has been by here side this whole time also had surgery three weeks prior to Stacie’s. Both remain out of work at this time.
Van Beek says that anyone who would like to make a monetary donation can do so at Iowa State Bank in Sheldon.
