Sheldon’s November Temperature Trend Opposite Of Normal Year’s

Sheldon, Iowa — In a normal November, temperatures in Sheldon would start off fairly warm, then drop steadily throughout the remainder of the month. But not THIS year, according to official weather records kept by KIWA Radio.

We started the month with a high temperature in Sheldon of just 36-degrees, 18-degrees cooler than normal, and 23-degrees cooler than 2016.

From that high of 36 on November 1st, temperatures have, for the most part, climbed throughout the month. On November 2nd, the high was 47-degrees, with highs in the 40’s continuing through November 5th. The mercury dropped back a bit, into the 30’s on the 6th and 7th of the month, then rebounded into the 40’s for a couple of days, before dropping into the 20’s on November 10th.

Starting November 11th, we saw a general increase in high temperatures in Sheldon with highs reaching 56-degrees on November 24th, and reaching the high temperature of the month on November 25th, when the mercury topped out at 64-degrees.

The National Weather Service says high temperatures in Sheldon for the remainder of the month will be reasonably close to normal, ranging in the middle to upper 40’s. December is forecast to start with a high in the above normal category, with the forecast high of 46-degrees being some 12-degrees above the normal of 34.
