SHS Raises More Than $5,000 For Sheldon TX Students

Sheldon, Iowa — A few weeks we told you about a fundraising campaign by the National Honor Society and Sheldon High School Leadership Team designed to raise money to assist the students of the Sheldon, Texas Independent School District, as part of the Sheldon IA 4 Sheldon TX Hurricane Harvey relief effort.

A total of $1,084 was collected from fans attending Orab high school volleyball and football games over about a two-week period, which culminated with the Orab Homecoming game on September 29th. In addition, the National Honor Society elected to donate the $300 proceeds from the NHS Dance to go toward that effort, as well. In addition, the Sheldon Hy-Vee had committed to donating $3-thousand for the effort, for a total of $4,384.

This week the Sheldon School Board opted to donate the $672 in proceeds from their September 23rd Garage Sale to the NHS and Leadership drive, bringing the grand total to $5,056 that will be heading for the Sheldon ISD in Sheldon, Texas to assist the students there in flood recovery.
