Sibley Man Taken To Hospital After Accident In Lyon County Near Ashton

Ashton, Iowa — A Sibley man was taken to the hospital after an accident in Lyon County, but near Ashton.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday morning (9/14)at about 6:40 AM, 19-year-old Nicholas D. Larsen of Sibley was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango southbound in the 2000 block of McKinley Avenue, about 4 miles northwest of Ashton. Larsen stated he fell asleep, started to enter the west ditch, woke up, over corrected, losing control and then entered the east ditch striking a culvert.

Larsen was transported to the Sibley Hospital by the Lyon County Ambulance. Larsen was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Larsen’s Dodge Durango sustained approximately $8,000 in damage.

George Fire and Rescue and Lyon County Ambulance personnel assisted at the scene.
