Sibley Teen Sentenced To Suspended Jail Term, Probation After She Pled Guilty To Assault

Osceola courthouse 2 - summerSibley, Iowa — A Sibley teen has been sentenced to a suspended jail term and probation among other penalties after she pled guilty to an assault charge.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that 18-year-old Thressa Joan Weishuhn of Sibley pled guilty to the Simple Misdemeanor charge of Assault.

Weishuhn was ordered to pay a criminal penalty surcharge and court costs of the case within 30 days.

Weishuhn was also sentenced to thirty days in jail with all time suspended except for the time she has already served. The remaining 29 days were suspended in the form of informal probation to the Magistrate Court for a period of two years.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the 29 days in jail will be enforced if she is convicted for a similar offense during that period.

Weishuhn was arrested May 15, 2013, after it was reported that she assaulted someone at Sibley Central Park.
