Date posted - June 19, 2012

Sibley, Iowa — A Sibley teen will do 10 days in jail, pay a large fine, and pay the county back after he destroyed a bridge last year.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s office reports that a year ago on June 2, 2011, 18-year-old Jacob Wayne Leusink of Sibley started a fire under the bridge on 190th Street, south of Sibley, causing the bridge to catch fire and burn down.

Leusink has pled guilty to Reckless Use of Fire, a Serious Misdemeanor. He was ordered to pay a fine of over $120,000, court costs, restitution of any court-appointed attorney fees, and any victim restitution. Leusink was sentenced to a year in the Osceola County Jail, with all time suspended except for ten days. He will also serve 2 years’ probation.

  1. Should tie the stupid punk to a wooden bridge and set it on fire.

To the comment made about tying the punk to the bridge and setting it on fire…. Seriously that is a little harsh and you should be ashamed of yourself for saying something so stupid and immature. We have all been young and dumb and made mistakes before all but you apparently
