Sibley Woman Sentenced To Probation, Fine For Perjury

Sibley, Iowa — A Sibley woman has been sentenced to probation and a large fine after she was found guilty of Perjury during a deposition.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that 21-year-old Felicia Marie White of Sibley was found guilty of Perjury, a Class “D” Felony. White is to pay a fine of $1236, court costs, and restitution of any court-appointed attorney fees. She will serve one year of probation, with a Deferred Judgment pending successful completion of the probation requirements. On December 10, 2010, White provided a false statement while testifying under oath at a Deposition Hearing at the Osceola County Courthouse in Sibley.
A Sioux Falls woman faces several charges after she was arrested on Friday (7/27). The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that they arrested 25-year-old Brooke Ashley Mejia of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for allegedly Operating While Intoxicated, two counts of False Information, Failure to have a Valid Driver’s License, no proof of insurance, and Failure to Stop Vehicle at RR Crossing Device. Mejia also had an outstanding warrant from Osceola County for Assault. She was booked into the Osceola County Jail and is being held on a $2,000 cash only bond. A detainer was also placed on Mejia by Nobles County, Minnesota for an outstanding warrant for Giving Peace Officer False Name of Another Person.
In other news from the Osceola Osceola County Sheriff’s Office — on Thursday, (7/26) at 3:40 PM, they received a 9-1-1 call of a Domestic Disturbance in the town of Sibley. The responding officer found a male subject in the back yard of a residence threatening to commit suicide with a .22 caliber rifle. The officer was able to convince the subject to put down the weapon. He was then referred for appropriate medical care.
