Sibley Woman Taken To Hospital After Alton Area Accident

Alton, Iowa — A Sibley woman was taken to a hospital after an accident near Alton.Ambulance Front Generic

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 8:55 AM on Tuesday morning, August 5, at 8:55 AM 63-year-old Patricia Lange of Sibley was driving a 2007 Toyota RAV‐4 southbound on Highway 60, a mile northeast of Alton. Fifteen-year-old Kyle TeGrootenhuis of Hospers was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup northbound on Kingbird Avenue.

The report says he stopped for the stop sign in the median at Highway 60 and then began driving northbound to cross Highway 60, when he struck the Lange vehicle in the intersection.

The Alton Ambulance transported Lange to the Orange City Health System Hospital. TeGrootenhuis did not report any injuries.

Lange’s Toyota sustained about $6,000 in damages. TeGrootenhuis’s pickup sustained an estimated $2,000 in damages.

TeGrootenhuis was cited for failing to yield the right of way when entering a through highway. Lange was cited for expired registration.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Alton Fire Department and the Alton Ambulance crew.
