Sioux And Lyon County Deputies, USPS Investigating Cases Of Mailbox Vandalism, Theft

Blank White Mailbox 2Rural Rock Valley, Iowa — The Sioux and Lyon County Sheriff’s Offices are looking for the public’s help to solve a case of several instances of mailbox vandalism and theft.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that since Wednesday (8-28-13), they have been investigating five reports of theft and vandalism that occurred in the area of 280th Street and Dogwood Avenue, four miles northwest of Rock Valley. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating similar incidents that occurred nearby in their county.

Mailboxes were either destroyed or stolen at each location. The crimes likely occurred during the overnight hours of Tuesday, August 27 or the morning hours of Wednesday, August 28.

The United States Postal Service is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator or perpetrators.
