Sioux And Lyon County Deputies, USPS Investigating Cases Of Mailbox Vandalism, Theft

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that since Wednesday (8-28-13), they have been investigating five reports of theft and vandalism that occurred in the area of 280th Street and Dogwood Avenue, four miles northwest of Rock Valley. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating similar incidents that occurred nearby in their county.
Mailboxes were either destroyed or stolen at each location. The crimes likely occurred during the overnight hours of Tuesday, August 27 or the morning hours of Wednesday, August 28.
The United States Postal Service is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator or perpetrators.
Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to contact the sheriff’s office or the Postal Inspector. If you wish to remain anonymous you may use the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office Text‐a‐Tip program.
