Sioux Center Police Car Damaged In Incident At Tower Fields

Sioux Center PD Charger Door Logo OnlySioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center man has been charged after an incident that damaged a Sioux Center Police car.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 10:50 PM on Wednesday, January 8, they investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on the parking lot of Tower Fields Recreational area, in Sioux Center. The accident involved a Sioux Center Police patrol car.

They report that 23-year-old officer Darren Wielenga of Sioux Center was driving a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria police vehicle owned by the City of Sioux Center. Twenty-nine-year-old Armando Morales of Sioux Center was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero and was parked on the parking lot. As Officer Wielenga drove toward Morales to investigate why he was stopped on the lot, Morales accelerated the Oldsmobile and struck the Sioux Center Police patrol car.

No injuries were reported.

The Ford police cruiser sustained about $3,500 in damages. The Oldsmobile sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages.

Upon further investigation, officers suspected that Morales was intoxicated. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated by officers of the Sioux Center Police Department. The sheriff’s office charged Morales with driving without a valid driver’s license and reckless driving.

On Wednesday, January 8, at 9:20 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32-year-old Alicia Raman of Hull. She was charged with domestic abuse assault.

The arrest stemmed from an altercation between Raman a male victim at their residence in Hull.
