Sioux City Man Arrested On Forgery Charge After Accident

Hand Cuffs sxcHospers, Iowa — A Sioux City man was arrested after an accident on Thursday, January 23rd in Hospers, but it wasn’t on a driving-related charge.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 6 AM, 23-year-old Eric Durband of Hospers was driving a 1992 Honda Accord southbound on Hospers Drive. Forty-eight-year-old Carlos Perez-Vasquez of Sioux City was driving a 1996 Nissan northbound on Hospers Drive.

Durband crossed the center of the roadway and struck Perez-Vasquez.

No injuries were reported.

The Honda sustained about $3,000 in damages. The Nissan sustained an estimated $4,000 in damages.

Durband was cited for failure to yield half of the roadway.

After the accident, Perez-Vasquez left and went to his place of employment. While continuing work on the accident investigation, the sheriff’s deputy went to speak with him at his work place and discovered that he was employed using a different name.

Perez-Vasquez was arrested on a forgery charge, and cited for driving without a valid driver’s license.
