Sioux County Community Foundation Grant Deadline Approaching

Sioux County Community FoundationOrange City, Iowa — The board and the administrator of the Sioux County Community Foundation or SCCF are again reminding the public that the deadline for submitting an application for this year’s grant cycle is coming up. So if your group or organization needs funding for a special project, you might want to take note.

SCCF, an affiliate of the Siouxland Community Foundation, is accepting grant applications from 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and units of local government until March 15th. Applications can be submitted online.

Since the first Sioux County grants were made in 2006, over $920,000 has been awarded to nonprofit organizations to help support present and emerging needs in the areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education, environment, health, and human services. A detailed list of grants awarded the last three years is available on the website.

The SCCF Advisory Board is well aware that service clubs and organizations have an important role in Sioux County. Even though the Foundation cannot make grants directly to service clubs or other non-501(c)(3) organizations, those organizations are encouraged to collaborate with a qualified nonprofit agency on projects or seek a fiscal sponsor.

Technical assistance and staff support is provided by the Siouxland Community Foundation which currently works with twelve affiliate Foundations.

Some of the grant funding comes from the state, which gives the money to counties that do not have a casino or betting track. The law stipulates that such counties are eligible to receive one-half of one percent of the state’s gross gambling receipts. Private donations to the SCCF are encouraged as well.

Questions about the grant program or application process may be directed to Dale Oltmans, SCCF Advisory Board Chair, at (712) 756-4314 or the SCCF Administrative Office, at (712) 293-3303.
