Sioux County Deputy Named To Sheriffs’ Honor Guard

Orange City, Iowa — A Sioux County Sheriff’s Deputy has recently become the first deputy from that office to serve on the Iowa State Sheriffs and Deputies Honor Guard.Pollema Honor Guard

Sioux County Sheriff Dan Altena says that the Iowa State Sheriffs and Deputies or ISSDA Honor Guard participates in events such as: Funerals of sheriffs or deputies who have died in the line of duty, funerals of retired sheriffs or deputies, ceremonies such as – The Peace Officer Memorial Day and at ISSDA schools. The new member of the honor guard is Sioux County Deputy Waylon Pollema.

The ISSDA honor guard works in conjunction with honor guards from some of Iowa’s larger counties, such as Polk, Linn and Black Hawk Counties, to assist in providing these services.

Sheriff Altena says that they’re proud to have an officer be part of the group. He says the honor guard provides an honorable presence at some very important events.
