Sioux County Sheriff’s Office Discovers Who Was Driving SUV Involved In Crash

Hawarden Ax 7-25-13Hawarden, Iowa — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports they now know who was driving an SUV that was found in the ditch after an accident near Hawarden.

According to Sheriff’s Officials, the investigation determined the driver of the vehicle involved in the July 14th accident was 24-year-old Mauricio Morales‐Martin of Sioux Center.

On Sunday, July 14, 2013, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident on Cherry Avenue, eight miles north of Hawarden. At that time, they found a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer in the ditch, but no driver. The vehicle had been traveling northbound on Cherry Avenue when Morales-Martin allegedly lost control, and the SUV entered the west ditch where it rolled.

The Blazer sustained about $2000 in damages.

On Tuesday, July 23, the sheriff’s office charged Morales‐Martin with failing to report a motor vehicle accident, no valid driver’s license and failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
