Sioux Falls Man Arrested On Felony OWI Charge

Larchwood, Iowa — A Sioux Falls man has been arrested on felony OWI charges after someone called to report a vehicle in the ditch.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, they received a phone call about 1:55 a.m. on Thursday, February 8th. The caller told them about a vehicle in the ditch at the intersection of 110th Street and Apple Avenue in the extreme northwest corner of the county, about three miles west-southwest of the Grand Falls Casino.

Deputies responded to this location, located the vehicle, and made contact with the driver, who was identified as 37-year-old Nicholas Kruse of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The deputy observed signs of intoxication and initiated an OWI investigation. As a result of this investigation, Kruse was arrested and charged with Driving While Suspended, a simple misdemeanor; and Operating While Intoxicated, 3rd Offense, a Class D Felony.

Kruse was also cited on charges of failure to maintain control and failure to provide insurance.
