drunk driving OWI DWI iStockLarchwood, Iowa — A Sioux Falls man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after a report of an accident on the west edge of Lyon County near Sioux Falls.

On Friday, (9/6/13) at about 9:55 PM, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office investigated a one vehicle accident at the intersection of Ashley Avenue and 110th Street, about four miles northwest of Larchwood, or a mile southwest of the casino. When officers arrived, no one was around the vehicle.

A short time after the officers arrived, an older Chevy pickup occupied by three males arrived at the scene. After a short time, it was learned that one of the occupants of the pickup, 41-year-old William Eugene Wood of Sioux Falls, SD had been the driver of the vehicle that was involved in the accident. The investigating officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Wood as well.

Wood was arrested, charged with OWI, and booked into the Lyon County Jail.
