law lightbar blueLarchwood, Iowa — A call to help out with an accident turned into making an arrest for OWI for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office; and now the Sioux Falls man arrested also faces felony contraband charges.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Sunday, December 1, 2013, they received a report from Sioux Falls Metro Communications — that’s the 911 center in Sioux Falls — of a one vehicle accident on Ashley Avenue and 140th Street, just into Lyon County. 140th Street is also called A18, and is the county road just south of Larchwood that many use to get to and from Sioux Falls.

Upon arrival at the scene the officer saw a 1998 Honda Civic owned and driven by 20-year-old Jordan J. Baker of Sioux Falls. After an investigation, it was determined that Baker was allegedly driving drunk. He was charged with Operating While Intoxicated, second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Baker was arrested and transported to the Lyon County Jail. There he was also charged with Possession of Contraband in a Secure Facility, a Class D felony; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor; and cited for failure to maintain control.

Also in the vehicle was 19-year-old Lawren J. Barse JR of Sioux Falls, who was cited for Minor in Possession and released.

No injuries were reported.
